Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks a senior transmission design engineer to lead designs ranging from 69kV to 765kV. You will act as a SME for 500kV/765kV lines, mentor junior engineers, and coordinate cross-disciplinary design activities to align with client specs and industry codes.

The role requires extensive experience with PLS-CADD, rigorous documentation, and direct engagement with clients on high-voltage projects. A strong grasp of NESC, IEC, IEEE standards is essential.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS degree in Engineering.
• 12 years of transmission design experience.
• 3+ years in 500kV and/or 765kV transmission line design.
• Familiarity with electrical considerations for 765kV transmission lines.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD software.
• Experience with scopes of work, conceptual designs, design basis, equipment/material selection, and calculations/specifications.
• Experience working with clients on transmission lines from 69kV through 765kV.
• Knowledge of standards: NESC, IEC, ASCE, ACI, IEEE, ANSI.
• Experience reviewing design drawings.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of transmission lines in the 69kV to 765kV range.
• Serve as a subject matter specialist in 500kV and 765kV transmission lines.
• Mentor and train less experienced design team members.
• Coordinate design activities to ensure installation and operations meet specifications, codes, and client requirements.
• Prepare reports and studies presenting technical information clearly and concisely and meeting client requirements and S&L formats.
• Perform independent reviews of work including calculations, drawing preparation, and transmission line models (PLS-CADD).
• Adhere to Sargent & Lundy's System of Processes.
