Job summary

Crowley Maritime Corporation is seeking a First Assistant Engineer (1AE) for tank vessel operations in the United States. The role leads the Engine Department, ensures safe operation, regulatory compliance, and a strong safety culture to support vessel schedules and missions.

The incumbent supervises engineering personnel, coordinates maintenance, participates in safety discussions, and ensures readiness of propulsion and auxiliary systems while reporting to the Chief Engineer.

Qualifications

USCG Merchant Mariner Credential endorsed as First Assistant Engineer Unlimited.
Valid STCW endorsements for the assigned vessel.
Tank vessel endorsements (Tankerman Engineer or Tank Vessel Engineer) required to operate as licensed engineer on the tank vessel.
Vessel Personnel with Designated Security Duties (VPDSD).
Lifeboatman/Survival Craft endorsement as applicable.
RFPEW.
TWIC valid.
Passport valid.
Ability to meet company medical, training and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

Oversee safe operation of propulsion, electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
Lead engine department staff and coordinate maintenance and repairs.
Ensure regulatory compliance and safety procedures are followed.
Maintain engine room logs and performance records.
Attend engine room during maneuvers unless relieved by Chief Engineer.
