Job summary

Core Group Resources seeks an experienced First Assistant Engineer to oversee engine room operations on passenger vessels based in Cape May, New Jersey. You will monitor machinery, logs, and report issues to the Chief Engineer while supporting maintenance and repairs at sea.

Responsibilities include standing watches, troubleshooting, and performing bilge operations as needed. A strong background in diesel engines, generators, and vessel electrical systems is essential.

Qualifications

  • Strong marine engineering and mechanical troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Ability to diagnose machinery malfunctions and recommend corrective actions.
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, manuals, and machinery documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Stand engine room watches and monitor machinery and operating conditions.
  • Maintain accurate engine room logbook entries.
  • Identify abnormalities and report issues to the Chief Engineer.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Operate main engines, generators, pumps, and auxiliary machinery.
  • Support shipyard projects and vessel maintenance activities.
