Job summary

US Army Corps of Engineers is seeking a qualified First Assistant Engineer to supervise and perform operation, routine repair and maintenance of all engine room equipment aboard assigned vessels. The role requires maintaining AC/DC electrical systems, monitoring gauges, and ensuring safety standards are met.

A valid USCG MMC First Assistant Engineer credential and TWIC are required, with TDY travel up to 95%.

Qualifications

• Must possess a current United States Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) First Assistant Engineer 2250 horsepower, (Yaquina) or higher and a TWIC.
• Alternatively MMC First Assistant Engineer Unlimited Horse Power (Essayons) and TWIC.

Responsibilities

• Inspect engine spaces and equipment at prescribed intervals.
• Start, stop and adjust engine room equipment as needed.
• Monitor gauges and alarms for abnormal conditions.
• Oversee routine operation, repair and maintenance of engine room equipment.
• Assist Chief/Assistant Engineer with major repairs.
• Maintain electrical systems and switchboards; perform repairs.
