Job summary

Hornblower Group is seeking a Second Assistant Engineer (2AE) to support the safe operation of engineering systems aboard Training Support Vessels. You will assist the Chief Engineer and senior staff in maintenance, repair, and monitoring of propulsion and auxiliary machinery.

You will stand engine room watches, participate in underway and in-port duties, and help keep logs and reports up to date while following safety and regulatory procedures.

Qualifications

• Valid U.S. Coast Guard MMC with STCW endorsements meeting the standard for Chief/Second Engineer Officer of 3,000 kW (4,000 HP) or more.
• Valid USCG Medical Certificate meeting engineering service standards.
• Must meet physical and medical requirements for shipboard engineering duties, including ability to climb ladders and work in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Support engineering operations and shipboard machinery management.
• Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, inspections, and troubleshooting on propulsion systems and related equipment.
• Stand engine room watches and respond to engineering emergencies as required.
• Maintain engineering logs, maintenance records and reports.
