Job summary

Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Inc. seeks a Seminary Archivist to collect, preserve, and provide access to its institutional archives and special collections. You will describe collections to national standards and help build the repository, ensuring long‑term access and discoverability.

The role requires Bachelor’s degree with preferred further archival training within a year, plus experience with ArchivesSpace and Preservica. Strong writing and collaboration skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required and ongoing archival training within 1 year.
• Knowledge of metadata standards (DACS, EAD, AACR2, RDA, LCSH) preferred.
• Experience with ArchivesSpace and Preservica is preferred.
• Familiarity with archival practices in religious or academic settings is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collect, preserve, and provide access to institutional archives and special collections.
• Describe collections to national standards and build institutional repository.
• Appraise and accession new materials using professional judgment.
• Support reference and research services as needed.
• Collaborate on cross-department archival projects and space planning.
