Job summary

The Brandywine Museum of Art’s Walter & Leonore Annenberg Research Center seeks a full-time Assistant Archivist to advance access to archives. You will survey and process backlog, write finding aids, and publish online in ArchivesSpace, while assisting with major donations and digitization projects.

The role also includes reference support for researchers in-person and remotely. Qualifications include an MLS/archival- focused degree or equivalent experience, 1–2 years’ processing work,

Qualifications

• ALA-accredited master’s degree in library and information science with a focus on archival studies strongly preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 1-2 years of related archival processing experience
• Strong preservation practices knowledge
• Experience digitizing and scanning archival materials
• Experience with ArchivesSpace and reference assistance
• Ability to work independently and with researchers and staff
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong time management and organizational skills

Responsibilities

• Surveying, processing, and reprocessing archival backlog in Special Collections to professional standards.
• Perform basic preservation tasks and rehousing of materials.
• Write and publish finding aids to ArchivesSpace.
• Assist with processing and management of major donations (N.C. Wyeth materials).
• Assist with digitizing archival materials to professional standards.
• Support reference inquiries and research appointments.
• Accept other duties and cross-departmental assignments as needed.
