Job summary

Lam Research in Portland area seeks a Semiconductor Process Modeling Engineer to connect plasma science, process engineering, and predictive modeling to solve complex manufacturing challenges. Using Lam’s internal physics-based modeling software, you’ll build, calibrate, and validate models of plasma etch and deposition processes, training engineers and collaborating with developers to extend capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in physics, chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or related field.
• 10+ years of relevant experience (or 8+ with master, 5+ with PhD).
• Experience developing Python scripts and using Python libraries for data analysis and visualization.
• Experience using AI tools to improve productivity.
• Strong technical foundation in physics, chemistry, materials science, or related discipline.
• Experience solving multivariable problems using advanced data-analysis methods.
• Working knowledge of semiconductor unit-process development and integration.
• Strong organizational and communication skills; able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Develop physics-based process models and virtual twins using Lam’s internal process-modeling software.
• Apply expertise in plasma physics and process chemistry to identify root causes, generate actionable insights, and help process engineering teams meet demanding customer requirements.
• Partner with process engineers to design studies, collect and model data, analyze results, and communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with product managers and developers to translate user needs into clear requirements and user stories while ensuring the necessary application capabilities are available.
• Support software releases and train new users.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned applications and take ownership of their successful adoption and support.
