Job summary

MACOM in Lowell, MA seeks an Engineering Specialist to launch a career in semiconductor manufacturing. You will gain hands-on exposure to lithography, etch, diffusion, metrology, and related processes on a 12‑hour compressed shift schedule.

The role reports to Manufacturing, supports process improvements for safety, quality, and output, and requires strong analytical skills and good communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or Physics; Master’s degree preferred.
• 0–3 years of process development and manufacturing experience in thin film processing with hands-on experience (FIB, RIE, PECVD, SEM/FIB).
• Strong analytical capacity and diagnostic ability.
• Proficiency with Python, SQL, or JMP for tracking yields and analyzing process variations.
• Ability to sit or stand for 12 hours.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Willingness to work in a structured production environment.
• Ability to multi-task with a detail-oriented approach.
• Required to wear cleanroom suit and PPE.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of functions in the production of semiconductor devices in a cleanroom environment.
• Set-up, operate, load, and monitor specialized equipment to ensure quality product is produced.
• May be responsible for monitoring equipment operation, inspecting final product, cleaning the work environment, and data entry.
• Work on 12-hour compressed work week night shifts (5pm–5am) or day shifts (5:00am–5:00pm) with rotating schedules.
