Job summary

Fab2 seeks semiconductor packaging engineering interns for a hands-on summer term in Austin, TX. The role involves end-to-end process development, rapid iteration, and hands-on R&D of new packaging technologies, including mechanical prototyping and data analysis.

A portfolio showing built projects is required and prior experience with metal plating or fabrication is valued. Interns will be trained on tools like 3D printing, lasering, and metrology, with a strong emphasis on fast iteration and

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in engineering.
• 1–2 hands-on wet lab or lab-adjacent experiences, ideally in metal plating or fabricating devices.
• Strong foundation in mechanical engineering and CAD (Solidworks/Onshape).
• Hands-on prototyping experience and ability to move quickly through design cycles.

Responsibilities

• Design and iterate on machines and subsystems for semiconductor packaging fabrication.
• Integrate mechanical, electrical, and optical components in system assembly.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve fabrication processes and equipment.
• Hands-on package/wafer processing (3d printing, metal plating, lithography, metrology).
