Job summary

SSOE is seeking an Instrumentation and Controls Designer in Austin, TX. You will develop control system deliverables for cleanrooms and advanced manufacturing facilities, coordinating with process, mechanical, electrical, and construction teams.

The role emphasizes strong technical judgment, QA/QC discipline, and collaboration with project managers, clients, and commissioning teams to ensure safe and reliable operations.

Qualifications

• Assocation's degree in engineering design technology or equivalent experience.
• Experience designing instrumentation and control systems for semiconductor or related advanced manufacturing environments.
• Strong knowledge of sensors, transmitters, actuators, control valves, and instrumentation components.
• Ability to produce and coordinate P&IDs, I/O lists, loop diagrams, and installation details.
• Experience coordinating with project teams, vendors, and commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Develop instrumentation and controls deliverables for cleanroom, fab, and specialty systems.
• Coordinate with process, mechanical, electrical, and architectural teams for integrated solutions.
• Prepare and review P&IDs, control narratives, I/O lists, and valve/sensor selections.
• Support design reviews, QA/QC, and change control processes.
• Assist startup, commissioning, and field troubleshooting activities.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to technical standards.
