Job summary

Not disclosed across South West London & Surrey is seeking SEMH Assistants to support pupils with SEMH, ASD, MLD and behavioural needs. You will build trusting relationships and provide 1:1 and small-group support inside and outside the classroom to help re-engage students in learning.

Applicants should be patient, resilient and capable of maintaining boundaries while building trust. Training in SEMH and behaviour is offered, with a rewarding role in specialist education.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people is desirable but not essential.
• SEMH, ASD, MLD, behaviour, care, youth work or mentoring experience is advantageous.
• Patient, resilient and confident working with challenging behaviour.
• Excellent relationship-building and communication skills.
• Able to maintain clear boundaries whilst building genuine trust.
• A positive, non-judgemental approach to supporting vulnerable young people.
• Passionate about helping students who have struggled within mainstream education.

Are you passionate about supporting young people who have struggled to engage with mainstream education?

We are working with specialist schools and alternative provisions across South West London and Surrey, supporting pupils with SEMH, ASD, MLD and behavioural needs. We are looking for resilient, patient and relationship-focused SEMH Assistants to join their teams from September.

These are rewarding roles for people who understand that, for some young people, re-engagement comes before academic progress. Pupils may have experienced exclusion, prolonged disengagement or significant barriers to learning and require a consistent, supportive adult around them.

The Role
