Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory is seeking a SEM/FIB Laboratory Manager to operate, maintain, and advance SEM, FIB, and dual‑beam FIB/SEM capabilities for materials characterization and advanced research within the MicroAnalytical Signatures Group of the Nuclear and Chemical Sciences Division.

Qualifications

• DOE Q‑level security clearance eligibility and U.S. Citizenship required.
• Bachelor's degree in materials science, physics, engineering, chemistry, geology or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Hands‑on experience operating SEM, FIB, and/or dual‑beam FIB/SEM systems.
• Ability to apply microscopy, sample preparation, and analytical methods to moderately complex work.
• Ability to diagnose routine to moderately complex instrument, software, vacuum, detector, and sample issues.
• Strong communication skills to convey technical recommendations and work with users and teams.
• Willingness to work with radioactive materials and comply with safety controls.

Responsabilités

• Operate, maintain, and support SEM, FIB, and dual‑beam FIB/SEM systems for imaging and analysis.
• Develop safe, repeatable workflows for complex, high‑value samples.
• Handle radiologically controlled materials with compliant procedures.
• Diagnose instrument and software issues; coordinate maintenance and vendor support.
• Improve throughput, data quality, and automation through new workflows and data pipelines.
• Maintain microscopy data management including metadata and provenance.
