Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; associate degree in Healthcare Administration or related field is a plus.
• Minimum 1–2 years' experience in clerical or customer service roles in healthcare billing preferred.
• Solid understanding of customer service and insurance follow-up processes (billing, collections, managed care, Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial practices).
• Proven working knowledge of EOB, CPT, HCFA/UB04 forms and revenue cycle workflows.
• Intermediate computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Valid Wisconsin driver license with insurable status.

Responsibilities

• Handle all communications with patients and departments to resolve self-pay balances promptly.
• Provide excellent customer service to improve patient and guarantor relations and contribute to the financial bottom line.
• Explain insurance billing processes and financial policies clearly; de-escalate concerns.
• Negotiate full payment and set up payment plans; assist financial aid as available.
• Respond to voicemails and emails from patients and guarantors in a timely manner.
• Work to reduce accounts receivable and report issues to leadership within three business days.
