Job summary

Center City Public Charter Schools – Shaw Campus in Washington, DC seeks a Special Education Teacher for a self-contained classroom for the 2026–2027 school year. The role focuses on delivering targeted instruction, implementing accommodations, and supporting students’ academic, social, and emotional growth.

You will write and execute comprehensive IEPs, monitor progress, and collaborate with related services to ensure compliant services.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Special Education or related field preferred.
• Valid Special Education teaching license or active plan to obtain licensure.
• Prior teaching experience in a self-contained classroom preferred.
• Familiarity with CCSS and Eureka Math curricula.
• Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based instructional strategies and data-driven instruction.
• Working knowledge of local and federal SPED laws.

Responsibilities

• Lead a small self-contained classroom with high behavioral and academic expectations.
• Plan and deliver instruction across content areas with appropriate scaffolds.
• Provide small-group and individual instruction using ongoing data to guide IEP programming.
• Develop and implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and behavior management systems.
• Write, update, and execute comprehensive IEPs based on assessment data and input from parents and teachers.
• Collaborate with related service providers to align instruction and accommodations.
• Engage families in IEP decisions and ongoing progress updates.
• Maintain punctuality, attendance, and professional conduct; participate in after-hours events as needed.
