Job summary

Food Lion in Mount Airy, NC is seeking a Self-Checkout Ambassador to deliver fast, friendly service at the front end. You will greet customers, assist with self-checkout, and ensure a smooth, accurate checkout experience while upholding Food Lion standards.

The role focuses on engaging customers, guiding them through self-checkout and related procedures, and supporting the Front End team to maximize sales through exceptional service and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Smile and provide prompt, accurate and friendly service while engaging customers to create a positive shopping experience.
• Greet each customer and uses their name whenever possible.
• Assist customers on how to use Self-checkouts properly including use of the hand scanner for a Fast and Easy checkout experience.
• Respond timely to customer inquiries and self-checkout system notifications.
• Monitor multiple self-checkouts for proper customer usage including the scanning of all items and the accurate scanning of each item.
• Remind customers of items located on the bottom of the cart or items under baby seats prior to them completing the transaction.
• When needed, assist in scanning the customer's order and provide instructions on payment.
• Complete self-checkout voids, age restricted item verifications and any other SCO assist function in accordance with Front End Standard Practice
• Maintain alertness and call for assistance when needed to service customers per service standards
• Engage and identify self-checkout customers needing assistance
• Wear the Food Lion uniform, complete with name badge, when on duty, has a neat and clean appearance while adhering to Food Lion dress code
• Collect and returns shopping carts from the self-checkout area
• Ensure the self-checkout area has a neat and clean presentation
• Report any self-checkout issues to the Customer Service Manager or MOD
• Adhere to all company guidelines, policies and standard practices
• Ability to perform troubleshooting steps on self-checkout as needed
• Observe and correct all unsafe conditions that could cause associate or customer accidents
• Notify QA of any cleaning issues or maintenance required on front end
• Successfully complete computer-based training (CBT) and training aid courses
• Ensure self-checkouts are supplied with proper bags
• Perform all other duties as assigned
