Job summary

PALS OHIO, LLC is seeking a Self-Advocacy Coordinator to lead programs for adults with developmental disabilities. You will support self-advocacy efforts, coordinate meetings, manage transportation and documentation, and promote person-centered services in a compassionate, rights-based framework.

This role requires CPR/First Aid, Medication Administration certification, and a valid driver’s license. You’ll work flexible hours, lift up to 20 pounds, and help develop skills for autonomy while

Qualifications

  • CPR and First Aid certification required.
  • Medication Administration certification at hire or within 90 days and renewed annually.
  • Crisis Intervention and Behavior Support training as needed.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Criminal background verification with acceptable clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support adults with developmental disabilities in daily living, money management, personal hygiene, and community integration.
  • Maintain accurate documentation including transportation, billing, and program records.
  • Provide non-medical transportation as needed and ensure vehicle safety and maintenance.
  • Attend weekly staff/house meetings and participate in team decisions.
  • Promote a supportive, people-first environment and HIPAA confidentiality.
  • Advance self-advocacy by empowering individuals to express views and pursue rights and services.
  • Develop programming to enhance autonomy and self-sufficiency.
  • Schedule and conduct monthly self-advocacy meetings and at least four fundraisers yearly.
  • Participate in annual self-advocacy events and manage the self-advocacy budget.

PALS is seeking experienced, energetic, strong and dedicated staff to assist in leading the exceptional services that are delivered to our Individuals daily.Join our team today!Essential Functions:Responsible for supervision and support to adults with developmental disabilities including, but not limited to, money management, personal hygiene, community integration, skill building and maintaining a safe environment.Responsible for keeping accurate documentation including, but not limited to, transportation, billing, and program documentation.Safely provide Non-Medical Transportation as needed.Routinely check functions of van and maintain proper maintenance schedule for the vehicle.Ensure all safety equipment is in good working order.Contribute to and attend weekly staff/house meetings.Promote a supportive environment by modeling the guidelines of company philosophy, confidentiality, people-first language, empowerment, and fair and reasonable treatment of others.Maintain confidentiality of HIPAA records and promoting Individual Rights.Promote self-advocacy efforts to those PALS serves in areas such as expression of views, securing rights, pursuing interests and obtaining the services.Implement and provide programming to cultivate skills that lead to increased autonomy and self-sufficiency for those PALS serves.Provide learning opportunities for individuals to develop the necessary skills, confidence and knowledge to assist in bringing about positive change in their lives.Attend monthly self-advocacy meetings with other PALS Self Advocacy CoordinatorsConduct bi-weekly self-advocacy meetings with the individuals on location.Schedule and manage a minimum of 4 self-advocacy fundraisers annually.Attend annual self-advocacy awareness events such as the annual visit to the State house, synergy meetings, and amusement park. Some events may require overnight stays.Maintain and oversee the self-advocacy budget and ensure funds are used in the furtherance of self-advocacy efforts.Other duties as assigned by management.Requirements:Maintain current certification in CPR and First Aid.Must be certified in Medication Administration at hire or within 90 days of employment and renewed annually.Maintain Crisis Intervention and Behavior Support Plan training as needed.Minimum of High School diploma or GED.Current Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
