Job summary

Van Buskirk Companies in Sioux Falls seeks an experienced Selections Coordinator (Part-Time) to guide homeowners through design choices from the initial appointment to final documentation, bridging homeowners, site superintendents, project managers, and vendors with clarity and care.

This role values creativity, organization, and strong communication as you maintain the selection guide, schedule appointments, manage mood boards, and keep selections on schedule to deliver a great client

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–3 years experience in selections coordination, interior design, homebuilding, or related customer-facing role preferred.
• Experience with Buildertrend or similar construction management software preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort building digital mood boards/presentation materials.
• Basic understanding of construction terminology, project billing, and scheduling.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel between shop, selections room, vendor warehouses, and job sites.

Responsibilities

• Serve as homeowner's primary point of contact for selections throughout the build.
• Coordinate homeowner selection appointments and guide homeowners through the selections process.
• Meet with homeowners onsite to record selections and document information back to the selection guide.
• Liaise between homeowner and Site Superintendent on selections and build-related needs.

Van Buskirk Homes is looking for an experienced Selections Coordinator to join our residential construction team, working with clients throughout the process of building their new home. What You'll Do

As a Selections Coordinator, you'll be the client's steady point of contact throughout the construction of their new home – bridging homeowners, site superintendents, project managers, and vendors, and keeping selections accurate, on schedule, and clearly communicated from first appointment to final documentation.

Customer Relationship & Communication

• Serve as the homeowner's primary point of contact for selections throughout the build process.
• Coordinate homeowner selection appointments and guide homeowners through the selections process.
• Meet with homeowners onsite to record selections and document information back to the selection guide.
• Serve as the liaison between the homeowner and the Site Superintendent on selections and build-related needs, escalating unresolved issues as needed.
• Maintain a regularly scheduled, consistent touchpoint with homeowners during the build to keep communication and satisfaction high.

Selection Guide & Documentation

• Maintain and manage the customer selection guide, ensuring precise, accurate documentation of customer selections.
• Transfer selection guide data into the construction schedule.
• Document customer change orders.
• Support ongoing digital transformation of the selection guide and related documentation.
• Build digital mood boards for workforce housing and other project homes.

Selections Room & Sample Management

• Maintain the selections room stocked with current samples, removing outdated or discontinued materials.
• Perform inventory management of customer selections stored at the shop, tracking condition and location.
• Build and maintain relationships with selections vendors and warehouses.
• Coordinate delivery, pickup, and restocking of samples with vendor partners.

Vendor & Pricing Coordination

• Coordinate product information, samples, material pricing, and lead times with vendors.
• Confirm allowance amounts against homeowner selections and flag overages to the Project Manager.
• Maintain current vendor pricing and product information for standard and premium selection options.

Buildertrend & Records Management

• Maintain and update the Buildertrend Selections Module to reflect current selections and status.
• Track selections, approvals, and deadlines for each homeowner.
• Identify selection conflicts, missing information, and potential schedule impacts, and communicate them to the Project Manager.
• Prepare finalized selections and supporting information for Project Manager ordering.

• Highly organized with strong attention to detail, able to manage multiple homeowner selections and deadlines at once.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with homeowners, vendors, and internal teams.
• Strong relationship-building skills with vendors and warehouses to secure timely samples and pricing.
• Proactive problem-solver who catches conflicts or missing information before they affect the schedule.
• Comfortable learning and using new software systems, including construction management platforms.
• Able to balance appointment scheduling, sample restocking, and documentation deadlines without delays.

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Interior Design, or a related field helpful but not required; relevant interior design or selections experience is valued more than a specific degree.
