Job summary

Bloomington Public Schools seeks a Behavioral Specialist at Olson Middle School to lead behavior interventions and support students with disabilities. The role partners with teachers and families to implement evidence-based strategies in the classroom, ensuring inclusive practices and data-driven progress.

The candidate should have strong communication skills, collaborate across teams, and train staff in CPI and behavior supports.

Qualifications

• Experience with school-age students with disabilities.
• Ability to work with students and adults from diverse backgrounds.
• Knowledge of social-emotional procedures.
• Knowledge of best practices in special education, especially behavior.
• Experience with data analysis to support instruction and behavior interventions.
• Effective time management, prioritization and problem solving.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Minimum of three years' experience teaching special education or working with students with significant behavioral challenges.

Responsibilities

• Work with site teams to plan and implement behavior supports.
• Observe students and coach staff on behavior strategies.
• Collaborate with teachers, families, and community to meet needs.
• Support staff with behavior interventions and classroom strategies.
• Facilitate threat and risk assessment trainings with mental health teams.
• Lead meetings to review strategies and ensure fidelity.
• Develop data collection to monitor intervention fidelity and success.
• Provide PD on research-based practices for licensed and paraprofessional staff.
• Attend IEP meetings with parents on behavior plans.
