Job summary

University of Rochester is seeking a Regular, full-time Mail & Services driver to operate delivery vehicles at 271 East River Rd, Rochester, NY 14623. The role includes driving, loading/unloading, and ensuring timely mail and supplies delivery within campus facilities.

The position requires a valid NYS driver's license, ability to lift up to 70 pounds, and strong English reading/writing skills. Work hours are 40 per week, day shift, with potential for routine maintenance duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid New York State license with appropriate class based on gross vehicle weight ratings.
• Ability to read and write English and to understand and follow maps, diagrams, oral and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Drives panel and/or stake trucks safely to deliver and pick up supplies, materials, equipment, transportation tickets, etc.
• Responsible for general maintenance of vehicle and necessary daily or other periodic reporting of trips as required.
• Knows locations of buildings, departments and loading entrances in order to make specific pick-up and deliveries.
• Loads and unloads materials, furniture, supplies, equipment, etc. with assistance as needed.
• Makes special runs as directed.
• Keeps daily record of all trips and time involved.
• Knowledgeable of and implements special handling procedures of fragile cargo.
• May keep record of all portable equipment by location.
• Advises supervisor of need for preventive maintenance, inspection or repair of vehicles.
• May make minor repairs.
• Refuels vehicle, checks fluids and keeps vehicle clean and neat at all times.
• May assist in receiving room when needed.
• Sorts and delivers mail as required.
