Job summary

SECURITY BUILDING CONTROLS in Ashland, VA is seeking dependable Service Technicians to install, service, and inspect commercial electronic security systems across Virginia. Entry-level candidates with strong mechanical aptitude are welcome, with on-the-job training provided.

Travel is required to service commercial customers, including long drives and occasional extended workdays. You will perform inspections, diagnose issues, install and service burglar alarms, fire alarms, CCTV, and access

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record and ability to travel throughout Virginia.
• Willingness to obtain Virginia DCJS Electronic Security certification within 90 days of hire.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
• Experience with basic hand and power tools (drill, wire cutters, multimeter/volt meter).
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work independently or in a team and provide excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Install, service, and troubleshoot commercial burglar alarm, fire alarm, CCTV, and access control systems.
• Install and service door hardware, electronic locking systems, and provide locksmith-related services.
• Perform annual fire alarm and burglar alarm inspections.
• Diagnose system issues and complete repairs efficiently.
• Complete service documentation accurately and timely.
• Provide professional and courteous customer service while representing the company.
• Maintain company vehicles, tools, and inventory in a clean and organized condition.
• Report to the office by 9:00 AM daily to receive assignments and company vehicle.
• Possess flexibility for variable length workdays due to travel between job sites and conditions.
• Follow all safety policies and industry standards.
