Job summary

Shelby County TN is seeking a Security Systems Analyst to develop, implement, and maintain cutting-edge security technology under general supervision.

Responsibilities include analyzing cameras, DVRs/NVRs, access control, and alarm systems; coordinating with vendors; documenting requirements; and ensuring reliable operation of security infrastructure. A related associate degree or equivalent is required, with proof of education or experience as needed.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Position Summary

Works under general supervision and will focus on the development, implementation, and maintenance of cutting-edge security technology.

Pay Grade: 48

Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education

Minimum Qualifications

• Four (4) years of experience working directly with planning, installing, and maintaining surveillance videos, access control, and alarm equipment or in a related field; AND
• Associates degree from an accredited college or university in applied science or related degree; OR
• An equivalent combination of related education and/or experience

PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Conducts independent analyses of existing cameras, DVRs, NVRs, access control systems, and alarm systems.
• Determines department surveillance and access control needs.
• Prepares requirement documents, bid specifications, and/or requests for proposals as needed for the purchase of surveillance, access control systems, and alarm systems.
• Performs analysis on commercial off-the-shelf technologies and providing recommendations for systems components and integration methodologies.
• Develops concepts of operation, to include defining requirements and design specifications.
• Supports and maintains all cameras, DVRs, NVRs, access control systems, and alarm systems once they are installed.
• Verifies that all installed systems are functioning by testing equipment, connections and signals, identifying and correcting problems as required.
• Determines storage needs and bandwidth requirements for new surveillance equipment.
• Installs replacement equipment (cameras, DVRs, NVRs) as needed.
• Troubleshoots any reported problems with camera equipment.
• Assists users in using, viewing and recording videos.
• Performs routine maintenance and updates on surveillance equipment.
• Prepares floor plans and documentation linking camera and access control equipment locations as well as including network and resolution setting information about each device.
• Calls supporting vendors when needed for ordering parts or services.
• Performs other related duties as required or directed.

KSAs

• Project management skills; the ability to take ownership of a project from start to finish
• Knowledge of CCTV cameras, DVRs/NVRs, Access Control, Burglar and Fire Alarm Systems, General low voltage electronic circuitry, PC components, Windows OS, and networking.
• Must have experience with complex IT projects with an emphasis on systems integration.
• Specific knowledge of emerging and advanced security technologies is strongly desired.
• Familiarity with matrix switches and multiplexers.
• Must have knowledge and experience with IP video.
• Strong computer skills.
• Well organized and able to multitask.
• Must be able to work independently as well as within a team.
