Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking an on-site Commercial Installer to set up and program integrated security fire and security systems for commercial customers. The role includes dismantling and reconstructing equipment as required and coordinating with police/fire departments.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, 2+ years in electrical/electronic work, and the ability to read blueprints and schematics. A valid driver’s license and strong customer service skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Some technical school training is a plus.
• 2+ years electrical and electronic equipment experience with demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools.
• Valid driver's license and safe operation of fleet vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Install devices and dismantle/reconstruct equipment as required.
• Work safely to prevent injuries and clean up debris.
• Communicate with customers before scheduled installations.
• Prepare estimates per supervisor instructions.
• Follow wiring diagrams and hookup procedures.
• Test system operation and report to the control center.
• Read building and sprinkler blueprints as needed.
• Coordinate installation with authorities and log emergency notifications.
• May lead installation teams on larger projects.
• Coach and mentor less experienced installers.

What You Will Do

As a critical part of the team, the Commercial Installer works onsite with our commercial customers to set up and program their Integrated Security fire and security systems. The Commercial Installer also dismantles and reconstructs equipment when necessary.

How You Will Do It

• Installs appropriate devices; dismantles and reconstructs equipment as required by customer or Tyco Integrated Security.
• Works safely and responsibly to avoid injuries, damage to property, loss of unused materials and cleans up installation debris.
• Contacts customers prior to the date of scheduled installation to verify schedule.
• Prepares estimates in accordance with prescribed instructions or directions of supervisor.
• Follow proper schematic wiring diagrams and hook-up procedures.
• Tests operation of system to the signal-receiving center to properly establish service.
• Reads building, electrical and sprinkler blueprints as required.
• Coordinates installations with police/fire departments and handles necessary records for notification of emergency calls.
• May manage installation teams on larger projects.
• Coach and mentor less experienced installers.

Required

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $25-34 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
