Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. seeks a Commercial Installer to work on-site with our commercial clients, configuring and programming integrated security systems. The role involves dismantling and reconstructing equipment as required, while ensuring safety and adherence to schedules.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical training a plus.
  • Experience with electrical/electronic equipment is expected.
  • Ability to read blueprints and electrical/sprinkler schematics.
  • Proficient with hand and power tools; good manual dexterity.

Responsibilities

  • Installs devices and dismantles/reconstructs equipment per customer needs.
  • Work safely to prevent injuries and protect property; keep work area clean.
  • Contact customers before installation to confirm schedule.
  • Prepare estimates following supervisor instructions.
  • Follow wiring diagrams and hookup procedures; test system operation.
  • Read and interpret building, electrical and sprinkler blueprints as needed.
  • Coordinate installations with police/fire departments and manage records for emergencies.
  • May lead installation teams on larger projects.
  • Coach and mentor less experienced installers.

What you will do

As a critical part of the team, the Commercial Installer works onsite with our commercial customers to set up and program their Integrated Security fire and security systems. The Commercial Installer also dismantles and reconstructs equipment when necessary.


How you will do it


  • Installs appropriate devices; dismantles and reconstructs equipment as required by customer or Tyco Integrated Security.

  • Works safely and responsibly to avoid injuries, damage to property, loss of unused materials and cleans up installation debris.

  • Contacts customers prior to the date of scheduled installation to verify schedule.

  • Prepares estimates in accordance with prescribed instructions or directions of supervisor.

  • Follow proper schematic wiring diagrams and hook-up procedures.

  • Tests operation of system to the signal-receiving center to properly establish service.

  • Reads building, electrical and sprinkler blueprints as required.

  • Coordinates installations with police/fire departments and handles necessary records for notification of emergency calls.

  • May manage installation teams on larger projects.

  • Coach and mentor less experienced installers.


What we look for

Required


  • A high school diploma or GED

  • Some technical school training is a plus.

  • 2+ years electrical and electronic equipment experience with demonstrated mechanical aptitude.

  • Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings.

  • Ability to operate hand and power tools.

  • Valid drivers license and the ability to operate fleet vehicle in a safe manner at all times.

  • Ability to communicate and provide excellent customer service.


HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $25-34 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This position includes a competitive benefits package.
