Job summary

Sciens Building Solutions seeks an experienced Security Systems Technician to design, commission, and troubleshoot security solutions for projects in the New York area. You will collaborate with sales, project teams, and clients to ensure sound design and seamless installation of access control, CCTV, and voice/data systems.

The role requires hands-on programming, field surveys, and final customer acceptance, with attention to detail and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Two to five (2-5) years of experience in a technician role within the building security systems industry.
• Knowledge of current security systems including access control, CCTV, and voice and data systems.
• Ability to program and commission mid-range security systems.
• Independent ability to program the manufacturer’s product platforms.
• Ability to read security system design drawings.
• Willingness to travel occasionally overnight.
• Ability to pass background checks and pre-employment drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Review system layouts and coordinate with engineering, project management, and sales departments.
• Install, program, and commission access control, CCTV, and voice and data systems.
• Produce field surveys and daily project logs of activity.
• Responsible for programming, commissioning, and final acceptance by customers.
• Perform troubleshooting and enact effective resolution.
• Deliver projects on schedule and within cost budgets.
• Assist in the oversight of project and vehicle inventory.
• Provide support, guidance, and expertise to other technicians.
• Demonstrate proper operation of equipment and control units to customers.
