Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Commercial Installer to work onsite with commercial customers to set up and program integrated fire and security systems. You will dismantle and reconstruct equipment when needed and coordinate with authorities as required.

You’ll read blueprints, follow wiring diagrams, and test system operations to ensure reliable service. The role may involve leading teams on larger projects and mentoring junior installers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Some technical school training is a plus.
• 6+ years electrical and electronic equipment experience with demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools.
• Ability to operate fleet vehicle in a safe manner at all times.
• Ability to communicate and provide excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Installs devices and dismantles/reconstructs equipment as required by the customer or Tyco Integrated Security.
• Works safely and responsibly to avoid injuries and damage.
• Contacts customers prior to installation to verify schedule.
• Prepares estimates according to supervisor instructions.
• Follows schematics and hookup procedures.
• Tests system operation and communicates with the signal-receiving center.
• Reads building/electrical/sprinkler blueprints as required.
• Coordinates installations with police/fire departments and handles emergency notifications.
• May manage installation teams on larger projects.
• Coaches and mentors less experienced installers.
