Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. is hiring a Commercial Installer to work onsite with our commercial customers, setting up and programming Integrated Security fire and security systems. The role includes dismantling and reconstructing equipment as needed, with attention to safety and clean workspaces.

You may coordinate installations with authorities, read blueprints, and even coach junior installers on larger projects. A strong customer-service mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Technical school training a plus.
• 6+ years electrical and electronic equipment experience with mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools.
• Ability to operate a fleet vehicle safely.
• Ability to communicate and provide excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Installs devices; dismantles and reconstructs equipment as required.
• Operates safely to avoid injuries and keeps site clean.
• Contacts customers prior to installation to verify schedule.
• Prepares estimates per supervisor instructions.
• Follows schematic wiring diagrams and hookup procedures.
• Tests system operation and reports to the signal-receiving center.
• Reads building and electrical blueprints and sprinkler blueprints as needed.
• Coordinates installations with police/fire departments and handles emergency notifications.
• May manage installation teams on larger projects.
• Coaches and mentors less experienced installers.
