Job summary

CO2000 H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute, Inc. is seeking a Security Systems Engineer III to lead design and implementation of security controls across applications, infrastructure, and cloud environments, including SIEM/log management and XDR delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems required.
• 7+ years IT support experience; or 9 years with an Associate’s degree.
• Alternative: 11 years with a High School diploma.
• Strong knowledge of Palo Alto Networks firewall platforms.
• Experience with firewall policy administration and rule management.
• Proficient in TCP/IP networking; Visio, Wireshark, Splunk, PowerShell.

Responsibilities

• Install and configure security systems and applications, including policy assessment and compliance tools, network security appliances and host-based security systems.
• Research threats and vulnerabilities and, where appropriate, takes action to mitigate threats and remediate vulnerabilities
• Designs infrastructure and web applications firewalls, including physical and virtual firewalls
• Participates in infrastructure projects to develop, plan and implement specifications for network and distributed system security technologies in support of key information systems
• Implements or coordinates remediation required by audits, and document exceptions as necessary. Also works with Cyber Security on any issues or challenges

Summary

The Security Systems Engineer Ill, will create and maintain the architecture of security controls for applications of systems, such as infrastructure and web application firewalls, as well as provide security recommendations. Responsible for leading foundational technology security reviews and assessments and conduct decision making in the deployment of security controls. May investigate, create, and recommend innovative technologies or other methods that will enhance the security of various technology environments. The Security Engineer III will also create and engineer an organizational SIEM and log solution in concert with organizational monitoring platforms. This position will also have experience in delivering XDR across the organization. This position also assists in the review and update of enterprise security policies, architectures and standards, as well as analyze and make recommendations to improve network, system and application architectures, through documentation and diagrams. This position interfaces with stakeholders at all levels and roles within the organization, to ensure security delivery across multiple cloud platforms (public and private).

Credentials and Education:

• Bachelor’s degree – field of study: Computer Science or Information Systems
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in an IT support environment -OR- An Associate’s degree with an additional two (2) years of relevant technology experience (for a total of 9 years) may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree -OR- *A High School diploma with an additional four (4) years of relevant technology experience (for a total of 11 years) may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree
• Experience and demonstrated proficiency to the following:
  • Strong knowledge of Palo Alto Networks firewall platforms and security technologies
  • Palo Alto Networks firewall administration and management
  • Enterprise firewall policy administration and rule management
  • Experience creating, modifying, analyzing, and troubleshooting firewall security policies
  • TCP/IP networking, routing, switching, and network troubleshooting
  • Working knowledge of Visio, Wireshark, Splunk, PowerShell
