100% Remote. The Security Designer will be part of our national IES Design Branch and will be highly skilled in designing advanced professional CCTV, access control, and intrusion detection solutions, as well as other security systems in the commercial security integration industry. The role involves providing consulting and design services for technology‑enhanced spaces. The designer will actively participate in the design process for multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and the delivery of top‑quality work to our clients.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Contribute as a key member of the project design team, bringing a significant level of expertise in security systems and related design elements, with a forward‑thinking perspective.
- Engage in design meetings with clients to determine project goals and requirements.
- Develop security systems recommendations.
- Work collaboratively with the CAD/BIM staff to develop high‑quality security infrastructure construction drawings, details, and systems drawings.
- Review submittals of shop drawings, coordinating with architects, contractors, engineers, and other consultants.
- Review intake forms or site surveys, designing customer solutions based on requirements, and producing documentation suitable for system installation and control system programming scopes.
- Produce advanced security designs, including system line diagrams for CCTV, access control, and intrusion systems.
- Read architectural, mechanical, and electrical (MEP) drawing sets.
- Design with the latest security products (e.g., Avigilon, Bosch, Genetec, Honeywell).
- Create system integration documents, including Basis of Design and CSI Specifications.
- Communicate and coordinate technical design solutions with clients, installation teams, and vendors.
- Provide high‑end technical support to operational staff on pre‑ and post‑design efforts.
- Contribute to design review and code review as required.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of current and new technologies that the company offers.
- Ensure that all work is completed on time, within budget, and consistently within IES's high standards of quality.
- Act as a liaison and meet with sales, project management, and operations when a project is handed over for installation to ensure sales price aligns with actual installation costs.

Qualifications
- Minimum five years of experience in the design and implementation of security systems; experience with an independent consulting firm is a strong plus.
- Extensive knowledge in the design of security systems, including surveillance/CCTV, access control, various credential technology, and intrusion detection.
- Intimate knowledge of security architectural requirements: sightline studies, structural support requirements, cabling pathways, and architectural integration of security equipment.
- General knowledge of information technology services and digital media delivery technologies, network hardware, infrastructure, and system architecture.
- Excellent attention to detail and outstanding communication skills, both oral and written.

- Ability to assist with business development activities is preferred but required.

- Minimum five (5) years of low‑voltage design experience.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in low‑voltage contracting or a related technical or construction field.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit is strongly preferred.
- Must meet company minimum driving standards.
- Must be able to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
- Must have proven ability to design and develop a written and graphic representation of the company’s proposed solutions using provided software resources.
- Must have at least a high school diploma or GED equivalency; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- RCDD or other low‑voltage design credentials strongly preferred.
- Low‑voltage design industry experience required.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MS Project).
