Job summary

Sunrise Senior Living in Charlottesville, VA is seeking a Security Officer to help maintain a safe environment for residents, guests, and staff. You will patrol buildings and grounds, inspect doors and access points, monitor alarms, and document actions in daily security logs.

The ideal candidate has a HS diploma, 2+ years of related experience, good judgment, clear written and verbal communication, basic computer skills, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED; age 18+
• 2+ years related experience preferred
• Strong judgment and decision-making
• Ability to handle multiple priorities
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• Basic computer proficiency
• Valid driver’s license (if required)

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine patrols of buildings, grounds, and parking areas
• Inspect doors, windows, gates, and access points
• Respond to alarms, security calls, and on-site emergencies
• Investigate and document incidents or suspicious activity
• Complete daily Security Logs and incident reports
• Monitor fire safety, hazards, and unsecured areas
• Assist with emergency response procedures
• Escort residents and team members after hours
• Support OSHA and infection control compliance
• Secure and unlock areas per policy
