Job summary

Target is hiring a Security Specialist to help protect guests, team members and the brand in a fast-paced store environment. You will engage with guests, de-escalate issues, and assist with security operations, including incident reporting and theft recovery.

The role emphasizes teamwork, flexibility, and the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays. Training is provided to build the necessary security skills and store knowledge.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Meet state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements related to the position.
• Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and other team members.
• Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology equipment as directed.
• Effective communication skills.
• Work both independently and with a team.
• Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
• Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests and assist in finding products or resolving issues.

• Support peers and maintain a positive attitude.
• Adjust to business and guest needs to deliver a seamless experience.
• Promote a physical security culture and safe standards store-wide, including exterior areas.
• Respond to and document security incidents promptly.
• Respond to guest issues to provide a safe environment for team members and guests.
• Use de-escalation tactics and resources across the store.
• Conduct merchandise theft recoveries and provide theft apprehension support per AP policies.
• Prevent theft and shortage by merchandise receipt checks and trend communication.
• Document incidents in case management system per policy.
• Utilize Target video surveillance system effectively.
• Maintain ethical conduct, safety and compliance.
