Job summary

Target is seeking a Security Specialist to protect guests, team members, and the brand in a fast-paced retail environment. You will use intelligence-led tactics, respond to incidents, and deter theft while delivering a friendly guest experience.

The role requires physical stamina, flexibility for nights and weekends, and strong communication. Training covers security systems and case management; advancement comes with hands-on loss prevention experience.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Meet any state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements related to the position.
• Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and other team members.
• Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners, and other technology equipment as directed.
• Effective communication skills; work both independently and with a team.

Responsibilities

• Create an easy, inspiring and friendly guest experience by delivering on the following commitments.
• Greet guests with a warm and helpful interaction and assist in locating items or resolving issues.
• End every guest transaction with a sincere thank you.
• Actively support team efforts and assist peers while maintaining a positive attitude.
• Promote a physical security culture and maintain safe standards storewide.
• Respond to and document security incidents in a timely manner.
• Appropriately respond to guest issues to provide a safe environment.
• Leverage de-escalation tactics when responding to security incidents.
• Conduct merchandise theft recoveries and provide theft apprehension support as needed.
• Prevent theft by performing merchandise receipt checks and recognizing trends.
• Submit documentation in the case management system following AP policy.
• Understand and use Target's video surveillance system.
• Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance.
• Work safely and report hazards; comply with policies and training.
