Job summary

Qualifications

This position is part of the Agency Force Protection, Government Publishing Office in Washington, District of Columbia.

To qualify for the Security Specialist, PG-0080-12, you must meet the following requirements:

You must have one year of specialized experience in the PG-11 level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position.

Specialized experience includes:

• 1) Making recommendations for Physical Security safety and security equipment requiring access to sensitive/classified information;
• 2) Assisting with troubleshooting security systems including CCTV, Network Video Recorders (NVR), and fire and safety issues;
• 3) Planning and implementing protective methods and security procedures in accordance with the agency's physical security policies.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The quality ranking factor is having experience in the following areas:

• Configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting an enterprise access control system-specifically JCI P2000 or equivalent, on a security management server
• Managing system health, permissions, panels/controllers, and access database integrity in an operational environment
• Hands-on experience running conduit for security system installations
• Pulling access control cable and Cat5e, as applicable, to support readers, alarm points, and network-connected devices
• Terminating and commissioning field devices, to include: alarm points/inputs, card readers, request-to-exit (REX) devices, controllers/panels
• Running a preventive maintenance program by periodically testing alarm points.
