Job summary

Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino Lake Tahoe is seeking a Security Shift Manager to oversee daily safety, security, and asset protection on their shift. You will manage security personnel, enforce gaming regulations and policies, handle emergencies, and drive investigations to protect guests and staff.

The role requires scheduling, training, and supervising security staff, maintaining thorough records, and ensuring regulatory compliance. A Nevada gaming license is required for this position.

Qualifications

  • Ability to identify and foresee concerns based on reviews of incidents and trends.
  • Ability to interview employees in an effective manner.
  • Ability to thoroughly investigate a variety of incident types.
  • Advanced computer skills. Oracle, Office, iTrak, etc.
  • Ability to stay organized and focused on tasks and assignments.
  • Ability to remain calm and make reasonable decisions, including during high stress situations.
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to use CCTV for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to obtain and retain a Nevada concealed weapons permit (CCW).
  • Ability to understand and maintain knowledge of company and department rules, policies and procedures, city and state laws, safety regulations, gaming regulations and labor laws.

Responsibilities

  • Exhibit conduct in accordance with all Gaming Commission Regulations, Federal and State laws and regulations, and Golden Nugget and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Consistently deliver positive, courteous and professional guest service in all interactions with guests, visitors, vendors and fellow employees.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to ensuring responsible gaming and responsible alcohol service.
  • Responsible for scheduling, training and supervising security staff, and assuring that all designated posts are adequately staffed.
  • Responsible for all activities of the security division during his/her shift and the safety and security of guests, employees and assets of the company.
  • Responsible for the physical security of the hotel/casino complex, and on-site parking.
  • Responds to all significant incidents within the hotel/casino complex and oversees all security activities relating to the incident.
  • Ensures all reports, activity logs, summary sheets, and necessary paperwork are completed in a thorough and accurate manner.
  • Maintains personnel records for each Security Officer and Security Lead assigned to his/her shift.
  • Handles all disciplinary action of Officers assigned to his/her shift.
  • Has knowledge of all alarm functions and is able to communicate with all Security personnel.
  • Plans and schedules duties for a shift, for events, or assists in emergency situations.
  • Follow Graveyard checklist.
  • Is physically and mentally able to perform all duties of subordinates.

  • Must successfully complete company and gaming background screening process.
  • Ability to successfully complete and legally possess the following training certifications:

  • Must successfully complete American Red Cross or equivalent adult First Aid/CPR Certification.
  • Minimum age requirement is 21.
  • PLEASE NOTE: THIS POSITION REQUIRES A GAMING LICENSE BY THE NEVADA GAMING CONTROL BOARD
Education And/or Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two (3) years of casino security and/or law enforcement/military supervisory experience
  • Good verbal and written communications and organizational skills required
  • Excellent guest and employee relations skills
  • Ability to investigate incidents and write reports
  • Working knowledge of hotel/casino security operations is preferred
Mathematical Skills
  • Basic math skills.
Language Skills
  • Must be able to speak and understand English.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to move throughout the hotel (standing, walking, kneeling, and bending) for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to express or exchange ideas verbally and perceive sound by ear.
  • Ability to regularly move objects (lift, push, pull, balance, carry) up to 50 pounds.
  • Constantly walking up to distances of 500 ft. during shift.
  • Frequently stooping, reaching.
Work Environment
  • Work performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment. There are occasional hot and cold temperature changes.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to a smoke-filled environment.
  • Work with others in close spaces.
  • Moderate to high noise levels.
  • Walk/stand on tile/mats/carpet/cement.
