Job summary

Johnson Controls Service Technician role involves hands-on troubleshooting and service of security systems, including burglar and fire alarms, CCTV and Card Access. You’ll work with customers to diagnose issues, report status, and deliver solutions on site, with tools provided for independent work from a remote location.

The position emphasizes customer service excellence, independent problem solving, and providing effective outcomes at the time of service.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 3–4 years’ experience with Tyco Integrated Security or similar systems.
• Experience with Card Access/CCTV/IP cameras.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Electrical/Electronic background.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and service security systems to resolve customer concerns.
• Repair or replace burglar alarms, fire alarms, CCTV, and Card Access systems.

What you will do

A Johnson Controls Service Technician is a troubleshooter and service expert. You will alleviate concerns the customer may have regarding a security system. You will advise customers and the customer care center of the status of systems and processes inspections. You will repair or replace burglar alarms, fire alarms, CCTV systems, Card Access systems and other security equipment. This Technician will be set up with all of the tools and equipment needed to work independently from a remote location. Provide our customers with the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service-related items. As a trusted advisor to our customers, you will provide solutions and outcomes at the time of service

**Preferred candidate location: Champaign or Springfield, Illinois area**

How you will do it

As a Commercial Service Technician, you will locate and alleviate trouble with damaged equipment or wiring; readjust equipment, repair or replace inoperative equipment and test for operation; prepare trouble order forms to report temporary repairs. You will also coordinate inspections and/or installations with police, fire departments, or other appropriate agencies. Service Technicians will be responsible for the service and repair Commercial security/Fire Alarm/CCTV/Card Access systems. Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility is running efficiently to include upselling opportunities.
Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.

What we look for

Required

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3-4 years’ experience installing and inspecting/repairing Tyco Integrated Security or comparable product line.
• Experience with Card Access/CCTV/IP cameras
• Excellent communication skills.
• Electrical/Electronic background.
• Valid driver's license.

Preferred

• Fire alarm experience preferred.
• Some college preferred.
• NICET II or greater preferred.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $26.06 - 35.82 Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
