Job summary

Johnson Controls, a global leader in building security and energy efficiency, seeks a Security Technician to troubleshoot and service intrusion, IP CCTV, access control, and fire alarm systems from multiple manufacturers. You will explain repair steps and provide clear reports to customers, ensuring full functionality and high service standards.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in low-voltage or security, a clean driving record, and the ability to obtain the Ohio Fire License within six months.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years in low-voltage or security industry.
  • Excellent general knowledge of major security platforms including Bosch/Radionics, Honeywell, Firelite, Silent Knight, DMP, DSC, etc.
  • Valid driver's license with an excellent driving record.
  • Ability to pass thorough background and identity checks.
  • Ability to obtain a State of Ohio Fire License within six months of employment with JCI.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and service intrusion, IP CCTV, access control and fire alarm systems from multiple manufacturers.
  • Identify customer needs and explain next steps and repair processes to return full functionality.
  • Inspect systems to ensure proper operation and provide written or digital reports.
  • Offer highest level of service to resolve building inefficiencies and service-related items.
  • Act as trusted advisor to provide solutions and outcomes at the time of service.
  • Locate and alleviate trouble with damaged equipment or wiring.
  • Readjust, repair, or replace inoperative equipment and test for operation.
  • Coordinate inspections/installations with police, fire departments, or other agencies as needed.
  • Test system operation to the customer monitoring center to establish service connectivity.
  • Complete forms and customer paperwork accurately.
  • Provide recommendations and quotes to improve facility efficiency and upsell where appropriate.

What you will do

A Johnson Controls Security Technician is a troubleshooter and service expert possessing knowledge and experience with intrusion, IP CCTV, access control and fire alarm systems from multiple manufacturers. Candidate will possess strong verbal communication skills as they identify the needs of the customer and then inform them of next steps and processes to repair the system as needed to return full functionality. Candidate will possess skills and experience to inspect said systems to ensure proper functionality and provide written or digital reports to customer and company as needed. Provide our customers with the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service-related items. As a trusted advisor to our customers, you will provide solutions and outcomes at the time of service

How you will do it
  • Locate and alleviate trouble with damaged equipment or wiring.
  • Readjust equipment, repair, or replace inoperative equipment and test for operation.
  • Coordinate inspections and/or installations with police, fire departments, or other appropriate agencies.
  • Performs repair and/or inspections of intrusion detection, IP CCTV, Access Control systems and fire alarms (if applicable).
  • Assists fellow service technicians with system repairs and completes minor repairs including battery replacement.
  • Tests operation of system to the customer monitoring center to properly establish service connectivity.
  • Complete all forms accurately and customer paperwork as required.
  • Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility is running efficiently to include upselling opportunities.
  • Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
What we look for
Required
  • 5 years in low-voltage or security industry.
  • Excellent general knowledge of major security manufacturer platforms including: Bosch/Radionics, Honeywell, Firelite, Silent Knight, DMP, DSC, etc.
  • Valid driver's license with an excellent driving record.
  • Ability to pass thorough background and identity checks.
  • Ability to obtain a State of Ohio Fire License within six months of employment with JCI.
Preferred
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools.
  • Ability to unload ladder from fleet vehicle and climb ladder.
  • Ability to always operate fleet vehicle in a safe manner.
  • Ability to communicate and provide excellent customer service

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $26.06 - 34.66 Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
