Job summary

The City of Virginia Beach Sheriff’s Office is seeking a part-time Court Security Aide to perform routine inspections of persons and packages entering the Courts building, and to provide directions and other assistance to the public. The role includes monitoring activity in public areas and coordinating with deputies on incidents.

Shifts are 16 to 28 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Background checks and compliance with ADA requirements may apply.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine inspections of all persons and packages entering the Courts building.
• Provides the public with necessary information, directions, or other forms of assistance.
• Monitors public hallways for incidents and notifies supervisors or deputies as needed.
• May handle pick-up and delivery of mail, typing correspondence, and verifying dockets.
• Coordinates with jurisdictions and facilities to facilitate transportation of inmates.
