Job summary

Florida Institute of Technology is seeking a Parking Officer to manage campus parking operations, enforce rules, and support parking services during events.

You will patrol lots, coordinate permits, signage, and traffic directions, maintain records, and provide safety information to the university community and visitors. The role may require responding to emergencies and working alternate hours as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Certifications, licensing, or training in law enforcement, security, or related fields preferred.
  • Must have a valid Florida driver''s license and maintain a good driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate parking programs for events and campus safety.
  • Manage parking permits, signage, and traffic direction; determine staffing needs.
  • Maintain parking records and equipment.
  • Provide safety information and directions to faculty, staff, students, and visitors.
  • May work during emergencies and outside normal hours as needed.

Job description

The Parking Officer will primarily be responsible forparking-related functions that include the parking system usage andaccess by the campus and general public as well as parkingenforcement and regulation. The patrolling of campus parking lots,enforcing established rules and regulations, and performingcommunity service functions related to parking. May be involved inthe planning and coordination of parking programs such as parkingand safety coordination for campus special events and parkinginformation programs. Parking permits, signange, traffic directionand control. Keeping up with maintenance of parking records andequipment.

  • Parking permits, signange, traffic direction and control, anddetermmining staffing needs
  • Maintenance of parking records and equipment
  • Provide safety awareness through daily contact with theuniversity community and visitors by providing general safetyinformation, directions, and parking information
  • May be required to work during emergency situations, which mayrequire the officer to remain at the university until the emergencysituation has terminated. Work designated alternate hours andperform other responsibilities as needed
Requirements Include:
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Additional certifications, licensing, degrees and/or trainingin law enforcement, security, or related fields is preferred
  • Must have a valid Florida driver's license and maintain gooddriving record as determined by Florida Tech guidelines
  • Minimum of 0-2 years of relevant work experience required
  • Ability to conduct themsleves professionally, use of excellentacumen with university faculty, staff, students, dignitaries, and amulticultural community

Annual Security & Fire Safety Report

The federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy andCampus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act) requires colleges anduniversities, both public and private, participating in federalstudent aid programs to disclose campus safety information, andimposes certain basic requirements for handling incidents of sexualviolence and emergency situations.

Florida Tech’s 2025 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includesstatistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimesthat occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings orproperty owned or controlled by Florida Tech; and on publicproperty within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from,the campus.

The numbers provided include crime statistics that were reported tolocal law enforcement agencies, campus security and other CampusSecurity Authorities.

The report also includes institutional policy statements regardingcampus safety and security measures; descriptions of prevention andawareness programs; related university procedures and importantguidance; and other essential safety information.
