Florida Institute of Technology is seeking a Campus Security Officer to protect the university community on a 24/7 basis. The role includes patrols by foot, bicycle, golf cart, and vehicle, providing access control, escorts, and safety information.
You will respond to emergencies and coordinate with police, fire, and EMS, maintaining incident reports and logs as required. The position requires a High School Diploma and the ability to obtain Florida security licenses within 30 days of hire.
The Florida Tech Department of Security Officers is responsible for campus surveillance and patrol of buildings to provide a visible presence that deters crime. Officers respond to all emergencies and routine calls for service in a timely manner and coordinate effectively with police, fire, and emergency medical personnel. The position requires minor physical exertion, including pushing, pulling, carrying, and lifting up to 25 pounds, and the ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods without rest or assistance. Department of Security Officers operate within a 24‑hour, 7‑day‑a‑week environment. Due to the nature of the position, officers are expected to work an 80‑hour pay cycle with a fluctuating schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
