Allied Universal in Watsonville, CA is seeking an unarmed Security Officer for part-time patrol visibility at a busy retail location. You will provide customer service, deter incidents, and maintain a welcoming environment for shoppers, tenants, and visitors.

The position requires at least 6 months of security-related experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and the ability to pass a background check and drug screen.

Qualifications

• At least 6 months of security-related experience.
• Guard card or license preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Background check required by law.
• Drug screen required where permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver's license for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to clients, tenants, visitors, and shoppers by carrying out security-related procedures and emergency response activities.
• Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, professional manner and escalate as needed.
• Conduct regular unarmed patrols throughout retail areas, storefront corridors, parking areas, and perimeter to deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor access points and observe activity, reporting hazards, suspicious behavior, and policy violations to leadership.
• Document incidents and patrols accurately and communicate findings to Allied Universal leadership and client representatives.

Pay Rate: $22.66 / Hour

Job Schedule:

• Mon 10:00 AM - 08:00 PM
• Tue 10:00 AM - 08:00 PM

What You'll Do:

• Provide customer service to clients, tenants, visitors, and shoppers by carrying out security-related procedures, location-specific policies, and emergency response activities when appropriate.
• Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, escalating concerns according to established procedures.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols throughout retail common areas, storefront corridors, parking areas, and the property perimeter to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
• Monitor access points and observe activity throughout the location, reporting hazards, suspicious behavior, property damage, and policy violations to appropriate personnel.
• Document incidents, observations, and patrol activities accurately and communicate relevant information to Allied Universal leadership and client representatives.

Minimum Requirements:

• Have at least 6 months of security-related experience.
• Possession of a guard card or license is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
