Allied Universal is hiring a part-time Security Officer – Access Control for Portsmouth, VA. In this role you will monitor entry points, verify credentials, and provide customer service to personnel and visitors at an aerospace/defense site. You will help maintain a secure environment and support shift-based operations.

Qualifications

• Guard card or license preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Background check required by law; subject to drug screen.
• Licensing requirements may be required by state/local laws.
• Driver's license required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to personnel, visitors, and contractors following site access procedures.
• Verify authorization credentials and manage visitor registration; issue/recover access badges.
• Monitor entry/exit points and report unauthorized access to appropriate personnel.

What You'll Do:

• Provide customer service to personnel, visitors, and contractors by carrying out site-specific access control procedures, policies, and emergency response activities at an aerospace and defense location.
• Verify authorization credentials, manage visitor registration, issue and recover access badges, and maintain accurate access-related records in accordance with site requirements.
• Monitor entry and exit points, control access to restricted areas, and report unauthorized access attempts or irregular activity to appropriate personnel.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established escalation and notification procedures.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned access points, facilities, and perimeter areas to help deter unauthorized activity; working environments and conditions may vary by location.

Minimum Requirements:

• A guard card or license is preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
