Job summary

State Hospital South in Blackfoot, Idaho is seeking a Security Officer Senior to help safeguard residents, staff and facilities. 32 hours/week with full benefits. Responsibilities include investigations, reporting, and coordination with local law enforcement to ensure safety across campus.

The role requires handling emergencies, maintaining evidence, and supporting security operations as needed. Telework is not available; DHS background checks and pre-employment drug tests apply.

Qualifications

  • Good knowledge of building security procedures, typically gained with training and at least one year in security work.
  • Experience applying fire and life safety hazards.
  • Experience evaluating and handling disturbances and security emergencies.
  • Reading, applying, and following written and oral instructions.
  • Experience writing business or investigative reports or detailed documentation.
  • Experience typing or using a keyboard.

State Hospital South has an excellent opportunity for a full-time (32 hours per week/full benefits) Security Officer Senior and is seeking applicants that want to help with our mission of strengthening the health, safety and independence of Idahoans. This position ensures the safety and security of our residents, staff, buildings, and grounds; respond to emergencies; and performs related work. This includes investigations, record keeping, transportation, safety and over all campus security.Hours for this position varies.

State Hospital Southwas established in 1886 and is in beautiful Southeast Idaho, an area best known for Oregon Trail and Native American history, amazing fly fishing, towering mountain peaks with abundant wildlife and awe-inspiring geological sites. State Hospital South inBlackfootprovides psychiatric inpatient treatment and skilled nursing care for Idaho’s adult citizens with the most serious and persistent mental illnesses. The hospital works in partnership with families and communities to enable clients to return to community living. State Hospital South includes 110 psychiatric adult beds and 42 skilled nursing beds. It also maintains a statewide program to restore the competency of criminal justice patients.

This position is not eligible for telework.

The Idaho Department of Health & Welfare is a drug-free workplace.   • Good knowledge of building security procedures. Typically gained completing training related to building security measures and related security issues AND at least one year of experience performing building security.
  • Experience applying fire and life safety hazards. Typically gained by approximately one year experience identifying and reporting fire and safety hazards.
  • Experience evaluating and handling disturbances and security emergencies. Typically gained through training in crowd control and emergency response AND at least one year experience performing this type of work on a job.
  • Reading, applying, and following written and oral instructions.
  • Experience writing business reports, investigative reports, or detailed documentation.
  • Experience typing or using a Keyboard.
