Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a Security Officer - Prestigious Resource Center in New York. You will serve clients, monitor access, patrol areas, and maintain a visible security presence to deter incidents while providing exceptional customer service.

Position Type: Full Time. Pay Rate: $19.30 per hour. Schedule includes DayTime shifts. You will perform duties with integrity, teamwork, and a people-first approach across library and interior spaces.

Qualifications

• Valid New York State Security Guard License required.
• Access control and badge experience preferred.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Age: 18+ for unarmed, 21+ for armed roles.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Background check per laws; drug screening may be required.
• Licensing requirements depend on state/local laws.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to visitors, staff, and contractors while following site policies.
• Monitor access points and visitor activity, assist with entry procedures and reporting.
• Conduct regular patrols to maintain a welcoming and safe environment.

Job Description

As a Security Officer - Prestigious Resource Center, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries. As an Unarmed Security Officer with Allied Universal, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence to help deter incidents, support access control, and provide outstanding customer service and communication. You will contribute to a welcoming, secure environment through teamwork, integrity, and a caring, people-first approach.

What You'll Do:

• Provide customer service to visitors, patrons, staff, and contractors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Monitor access points and visitor activity in a library setting, assisting with entry procedures and reporting unusual or unauthorized activity according to site policies.
• Conduct regular and random patrols throughout public areas, staff areas, and the surrounding perimeter to help identify potential concerns and support a welcoming environment.
• Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, contacting appropriate personnel and/or emergency services as directed.
• Prepare accurate incident reports and maintain clear communication with site contacts, Allied Universal leadership, and relevant responders.

Minimum Requirements:

• Possess a valid New York State Security Guard License.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
