Position: Per Diem Security Officer at UVM Medical Center

Recently increased hourly wage, based on experience. In addition to the hourly rate of pay, there is a differential of $1.60/hour to $7.60/hour depending on shift.

Are you recently retired, self-employed, or someone with a lot of free time willing to work any shift?

The UVM Medical Center is seeking qualified individuals to join the Security team on a per diem basis. This position has no committed schedule or hours and is not benefit eligible. It requires some security experience, preferably in a healthcare setting, with flexibility to fulfill hours as needed. The role involves covering planned absences (vacation, holiday) and unanticipated absences. Ideal candidates include those looking to continue service in a healthcare environment, students who can pick up shifts around their class schedules or breaks, and retirees seeking flexible work opportunities.

Responsibilities:

1. Conduct patrol duties on assigned campus.
2. Respond promptly to emergency and non-emergency calls for assistance.
3. Document services provided during each shift.
4. Act courteously and professionally at all times.
5. In emergency situations, take lead in controlling violent or threatening situations, including detaining or restraining individuals if necessary.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
• Prior security or public safety experience preferred, especially in stressful situations involving diverse populations.
