Qualifications

• State/city-issued security license preferred.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Access control and badge experience preferred.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Background investigation required by law.
• Licensing requirements may be required by state/local laws.
• Driver’s license required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and service providers by carrying out security-related procedures and emergency response activities.
• Respond to incidents and resident concerns in a calm, professional manner following reporting procedures.
• Conduct regular unarmed patrols of the shelter location to deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor access to the location and report suspicious behavior or violations.
• Document daily activities and patrol observations and communicate with site staff and leadership.

As an Unarmed Security Officer at a shelter location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence to help deter security-related incidents, and support a welcoming environment for guests, staff, and visitors. You will provide exceptional customer service, communicate professionally, and respond to site needs with integrity. What You'll Do

• Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and/or service providers by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities as appropriate.
• Respond to incidents, resident concerns, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem‑solving manner, following established reporting and escalation procedures.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of the shelter location, including interior common areas, entry points, exterior grounds, and perimeter areas, helping to deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor access to the location, observe visitor and resident activity, and report suspicious behavior, hazards, or policy violations to appropriate personnel.
• Document daily activities, incidents, and patrol observations accurately and maintain professional communication with site staff and Allied Universal leadership.

Minimum Requirements

• A state, county, or city‑issued security‑related license is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
