Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a Part-Time Security Officer in Newport News, Virginia. You will perform access control, assist personnel, visitors, contractors, and drivers, and help maintain a safe industrial site.

Pay rate is $20.50 per hour. Typical shifts are Monday and Saturday nights from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM. This role offers flexible scheduling with the Claim a Shift platform and opportunities to grow within the security team.

Qualifications

• Must have TSA-issued Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
• Must be at least 18 years old (21+ for armed roles).
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Background check in accordance with laws.

• Licensing requirements may be required prior to employment.

Pay Rate: $20.50 / Hour

Job Schedule:

• Mon: 11:00 PM - 07:00 AM
• Sat: 11:00 PM - 07:00 AM

What You'll Do:

• Provide customer service to personnel, visitors, contractors, and/or delivery drivers while carrying out site-specific access control procedures, policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at an industrial location.
• Monitor and control access points by verifying credentials, maintaining visitor and contractor logs, issuing badges or passes as authorized, and directing individuals according to site procedures.
• Observe incoming and outgoing vehicle traffic, review shipping and receiving access as assigned, and report unauthorized access attempts or unusual activity to appropriate personnel.
• Respond to access control incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established post orders and escalation procedures.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of access points, parking areas, perimeter locations, and operational areas, documenting observations and reporting security-related concerns.

Minimum Requirements:

• Possess a TSA-issued Transportation Worker Identification Credential.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
