Job summary

Allied Universal in New York, NY is seeking a Part-Time Security Officer focused on Access Control. You will help manage entry points, verify credentials, and maintain security logs while providing professional service to employees and visitors.

Qualifications

• A state, county, or city issued security-related license is preferred.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• A guard card or license is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Background check will be conducted as per laws.
• Criminal histories considered in accordance with laws.
• Drug screen may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to employees, contractors, visitors, and/or vendors by carrying out access-control procedures and site policies.
• Monitor access points, verify credentials, maintain records, and report unauthorized access or suspicious activity.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner with appropriate personnel.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of facility access points, buildings, grounds, and perimeter areas.
• Maintain logs, incident reports, and shift documentation; communicate security information to leadership.

What You'll Do

• Provide customer service to employees, contractors, visitors, and/or vendors by carrying out access-control procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities as appropriate.
• Monitor access points, verify credentials and authorization, maintain visitor and contractor entry records, and report unauthorized access attempts or suspicious activity according to site procedures.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, communicating with appropriate personnel and emergency responders as directed.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of utility facility access points, buildings, grounds, and perimeter areas to help to deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
• Maintain accurate logs, incident reports, and shift documentation, and communicate relevant security-related information to site leadership and incoming personnel.

Minimum Requirements

• A state, county, or city issued security-related license is preferred.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• A guard card or license is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
