Job summary

Allied Universal in New York, NY is seeking a Part-Time Security Officer specializing in government building access. You will safeguard clients, perform patrols, and uphold site policies while delivering professional customer service.

This role offers a consistent evening schedule Mon-Fri 1:00 PM – 6:30 PM with pay rate $18.87 per hour. You’ll work with a collaborative team and have opportunities to contribute to a safe, secure environment.

Qualifications

• Have at least six months of security-related experience.
• Guard card or license preferred.
• State/county/city security license preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.

What You'll Do:

• Provide customer service to visitors, employees, and contractors at a government facility by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities when appropriate.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established escalation and reporting procedures.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of assigned buildings, public areas, access points, and perimeter locations to help to deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor access to restricted areas, verify credentials as directed, and report suspicious activity, hazards, and policy violations to appropriate personnel.
• Complete required activity logs, incident reports, and shift documentation accurately and in a timely manner.

Minimum Requirements:

• Have at least six months of security-related experience.
• Possession of a guard card or license is preferred.
• Possession of a state, county, or city-issued security-related license is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
