Job summary

Health & Human Services Commission (HHSC) is seeking a Security Officer II at the Lubbock State Supported Living Center to patrol facilities, monitor surveillance, and respond to emergencies. The position requires a high school diploma or GED (or 12 months of relevant work experience), a Texas driver’s license, and the ability to work day and evening shifts.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or 12 months of work experience required.
• Experience in security, law enforcement, or military is preferred.
• Training in emergency response and safety procedures is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Attends regular shifts and may include rotating or overtime schedules.
• Monitors surveillance cameras for unauthorized persons and hazards; reports emergencies.
• Conducts routine patrols of buildings and grounds; takes action as needed.
• Responds to fire alarms and assists with drills and life-safety checks.
• Coordinates emergency responses and notifies facility management and law enforcement when appropriate.
• Assists in apprehending suspects for security violations when feasible.
• Prepares timely documentation of emergencies and security incidents.
• Trains and mentors new security officers as needed.
