Job summary

The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, is seeking Security Officers to join their team to protect the Museum’s collections and ensure an inclusive visitor experience where everyone feels welcome. The role includes patrols of galleries and facilities, crowd control during events, and strong communication with the Command Center.

Starting wage is $21.65 per hour, with full-time hours and a schedule that includes first shift coverage from Thursday to Monday.

Qualifications

• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility to work outside regular schedule for special programming.
• Physical stamina for extended walking and stairs across multiple floors.
• Basic familiarity with security equipment and general computer skills.
• Multilingual skills a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service to visitors, staff and volunteers throughout the Museum.
• Perform routine patrols of galleries, exterior doors, laboratories, secure areas, and other facilities.
• Assist with crowd control during highly attended exhibitions and events.
• Maintain communication with the Command Center and report safety concerns or incidents.
• Follow security protocols and demonstrate sound judgment in conflicts.
• Operate security equipment and maintain confidentiality.
